Weekly Round Up: 2nd to 8th March
Rain, mansplaining, Facebook and bread...
I'm trying something new as a weekly round up. Lists, who doesn't love a list? The aim is a more representative version of my week, and something which is as easy to create in weeks when I'm short of time, as it is when I have plenty of it.
When I used to blog on my old site, I loved Gala Darling's Carousel – this amazing round up of all the fantastic things she'd read that week. Tim Ferris does a less sparkly, but just as valuable version of this with his 'five-bullet' Friday emails. The best thing about these types of updates is that they are easy and quick to browse, they allow for gravity and humour in the same place and they are a light relief in a world of long-form writing (mine included).
I'd love to know if you like it... or if you don't. So please do get it touch. I'm also still trying to think of a catchy name for it. Answers on a postcard please.
I'm not counting, but if I was...
Decent-length (dog) walks: 4
Meditation sessions: 4
Art sessions: 1
Gym sessions: 2
Books finished: 2 (Floating by Joe Minihane, Everything I know about Love by Dolly Alderton)
Other notable things...
Walked the dog in the rain and loved how it meant everyone else stayed at home
Tried on my bridesmaid dress for my best friend’s wedding and guided her to the stamps section in Hobbycraft, which she claimed didn’t exist (not at the same time)
Learned that an engine on a yacht is called an ‘inboard engine’, not an ‘onboard engine’
Had a Facebook ‘debate’ about this article with a man who un-ironically asked me if I found it difficult to hold a screwdriver and told me he liked pink
Signed up to a mindfulness triathlon (thanks, sis)
Agreed with my art teacher that I will just draw the same picture of my dog over and over for the next month (at least)
Got mansplained at in Pret by a guy who actually used the sentence, “I work in marketing” even though what he was mansplaining about had nothing to do with marketing
Received excellent advice from a close friend that “Just because you can do everything, doesn’t mean you should”
Remembered that sourdough bread is fantastic, but only immediately after you buy it
