Expeditions
I take part in expeditions all over the world, but there is one key requirement – it needs to be adventure with a purpose.
My personality means that I never shy away from trips and experiences that I’m unsure about. I regularly travel and take part in activities without having any previous reference points of whether I’ll enjoy it.
My hair can be a nightmare to maintain. And I don’t mean that in a ‘tell me how nice my hair is’ way. I mean that in a ‘Urgh, do I really have to wash it because brushing it out will take so long?’ way.
Since I started taking sailing trips, I have become much more effective at packing. It’s actually kind of a miracle, because I used to always be a ‘but what if I need this?’ person.
It’s 6am and I’ve had approximately 4 hours sleep. I’m up on the deck of our beautiful home and base for the week, 72-foot challenge yacht Sea Dragon, gazing out across almost endless ocean.
After an amazing experience with John Ruskey and Quapaw Canoe Company on the Mississippi in 2016 (story to follow), I started sketching each time I travel.
Tell someone you know that they are doing something well... it really could make all the difference. I've written an article about this for Gather Outdoors.
I wrote another article for Adventure Uncovered on how you can use adventure experiences to make a bigger impact on global issues.
